Possible distracted driver claims life of child in crash

| Aug 30, 2017 | Wrongful Death

Drivers have to pay attention to the road. When they start to blindly follow GPS directions, there is a chance that innocent people will suffer harm or even die. This seems to be what happened in a recent accident.

A man was towing a trailer in the left lane of Ga. 316. The GPS in his pickup truck told him that the interstate was congested and that he should take an exit. The man apparently glanced over his shoulder to move into the right lane. The issue here is that the man didn’t take the time to see what was in front of him.

A vehicle was slowing down and the vehicle behind it was slowing down. The man didn’t notice this and slammed into the second vehicle and pushed it into the first vehicle. Another vehicle that was behind the man with the trailer slammed into the trailer. The driver of that vehicle says that no brake lights were visible on the truck towing the trailer.

Four people were injured in the crash. One of those was a 9-year-old who was in the third row seat of the vehicle the pickup truck crashed into. She passed away at the hospital due to her injuries.

The pickup truck driver was arrested and currently faces criminal charges in connection with the crash. These charges include homicide by vehicle in the second degree and following too closely.

Anyone who has lost a loved one in a crash knows how devastating this is. People who do lose someone in this manner might choose to seek compensation via a wrongful death lawsuit.
