A four-vehicle collision in Gwinnett left two people seriously injured according to an update from April 1. Officers attending the scene on Interstate 85 north reported that a 33-year-old woman and a police officer were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A third vehicle involved in the crash contained a 21-year-old woman who complained of injuries at the scene. She was not transported to the hospital, though she may seek care on her own.

The fourth vehicle involved in the collision contained a 31-year-old man. He, fortunately, did not suffer any injuries and left the scene in his vehicle a short time after being released.

It’s not clear how this accident took place, but the three vehicles involved in the most significant portion of the accident were taken to police headquarters where they’ll be analyzed. The Accident Investigation Unit also attended the scene to determine the cause of the four-vehicle crash. The unit shut down four lanes of traffic for around 2.5 hours to complete the investigation.

Crashes like this one can quickly change many people’s lives. Two families will be waiting to see how their loved ones are doing following serious injuries. Two other drivers face delays in their own activities as a result of the collision.

Car accidents aren’t uncommon, but it is important to do what you can to avoid them. If you’re traveling too fast or not paying attention, it’s extremely easy to end up in a crash with other drivers. If you’re hit, remember that you can file a claim against the driver who caused the crash.
