Man found guilty of the crash that killed a Georgia deputy

When emergency vehicles are headed toward you or parked nearby, it's best to do what you can to be cautious. Not doing so can lead to a crash like this one, which resulted in a deputy's death.

A man in Georgia has been found guilty of the crash that caused a deputy's death in 2017. According to the news from March 27, the man faced trial, and jury determined that he should be found guilty of vehicular homicide due to DUI, DUI, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, improperly turning at an intersection and vehicular homicide while driving recklessly.

Each of these charges were for the wreck that took the life of a 38-year-old deputy from Lowndes County. Jurors had been shown footage from the man's semi-truck, which had a camera mounted inside. The footage showed the man turning right onto Cat Creek Road, which put him directly in the path of the deputy's vehicle.

The driver claimed that his line of sight had been obstructed and that there were trees in the way that prevented him from seeing the deputy until he had already completed his turn. He also claimed that the deputy had not been using his emergency lights at the time of the crash.

The man was charged with possessing cocaine and marijuana along with the abovementioned charges, but those were returned "not guilty."

If you are struck by someone who isn't paying attention or who is driving recklessly and lose a loved one, it's in your best interests to do what you can to hold them accountable. Their actions have an impact, and they should face the consequences.
